5. Stadium of Light (Sunderland)

Sunderland’s Stadium of Light often named by some the stadium of ghosts, has had several cases of paranormal events documented.

In April of 2005, two backroom staff apparently saw an unusual black entity in the dimly lit stadium, where Irish striker Stephan Elliot also claimed to have witnessed the presence of ghosts in the stadium.

To compound the matters, a grounds man apparently disappeared into thin air and it was caught live during a routine Monday Night Football show on Sky Sports.

What do you think, glitch or ghost?

4. Ghazi Stadium (Kabul)

A very famous football stadium in the war-torn country of Afghanistan, this ground in Kabul has seen more executions and killings than actual football matches.

The Taliban would use the Ghazi stadium to execute convicts, whose hands and legs were then hung on the goalpost for the people to see and to strike fear.

It is strongly believed that the stadium is haunted by the spirits of the executed convicts, which keeps people from entering the field alone. Women are banned altogether.

3. Highbury (Arsenal’s stadium till 2006)

Herbert Chapman was a very successful Arsenal manager back in the 1920s and 30s as he led the side to several glories throughout his tenure.

Sometime in 1934, Chapman died of Pneumonia and it was believed that late in the night, one could hear Chapman’s ghost pacing the Highbury ground.

2. St.Mary’s (Southampton)

Southampton’s home ground since 2001, St.Mary’s was purportedly haunted by the spirits of the people who were buried under it when it used to be a graveyard.

The belief grew so strong that Southampton had once called upon a pagan white witch to ward off all the sprits and rid the stadium of all evilness.

1. Estadio da Dragao (FC Porto)

When James Rodriguez scored the only goal to consign PSG in a Champions League game back in 2012, there appeared a ghost celebrating with the fans too.

The pictures showed a shadowy presence of a man donning antique clothes, whereas the same photographer then pictured an old man sitting at the same place.
