Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed that he will not be signing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez in the January transfer window, despite being interested in the Uruguayan this summer.

Suarez, who is set to return for The Reds next week, openly admitted that he would love to make a move to Spain in order to join Madrid, but despite his best efforts to leave Anfield, the striker remained at the club as the deadline slammed shut before he could complete a move away.

Instead of Suarez, Madrid eventually signed Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale and because of that signing, Perez has revealed that the club will not be signing anyone in the winter.

‘We will not be signing anyone in January,’ he said to the club’s members at the Real Madrid annual general meeting on Sunday.
