Arsenal stars Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil could BOTH leave in the January transfer window, according to manager Arsene Wenger.

The pair are both out of contract in the summer and are expected to leave, so both could be allowed to go in January as the Gunners look to avoid losing their two best players on a free.

Having failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in almost two decades, Arsenal did well to keep onto Alexis and Ozil but it appears that their time in North London is numbered.

Arsene Wenger confirmed that although contract talks are ‘progressing’ with Ozil, he could still leave in January with the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona supposedly interested.

“Both players look happy and overall I hope the situation can be turned round, but at the moment we are not close enough to announce anything. Talks are going well.”

Whilst Ozil is said to be happy in North London, reports state that Alexis has made it clear to the club that he has no interest in renewing his contract.

“Will [Alexis] and [Ozil] leave in January? Once you are in our kind of situation you have envisaged every solution, yes. It’s possible.”

The Chilean was close to joining Manchester City at the end of the summer transfer window, but Arsenal were unable to secure the signing of potential replacement Thomas Lemar from Monaco and in the end he stayed.

Should they decide to cut their losses in January, it would most likely be for a considerably lower amount. PSG are also said to be interested as they look to balance the books and meet FFP requirements.

Neither player would be cup-tied if they moved to a Champions League team in the winter given that they have only played in the Europa League so far this season.
