Gareth Bale won’t be used as a striker in Kane’s absence.

Harry Kane injured both his ankles in Spurs’ 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday and Mourinho is anxiously waiting to discover the full extent of the injury.

Carlos Vinicius will likely replace Kane in the weeks to come.

Gareth Bale who operated as a striker in the past could potentially lead the line but Mourinho refused that the Welshman will be used in that role.

“Harry Kane is Harry Kane, you know,” said Mourinho.

“There are players in some teams that are not replaceable.

“I don’t think Gareth is a striker, I don’t think he likes to play as a striker. It was something that we spoke [about] when he joined us.

“He was very objective with me, by saying he doesn’t feel he is a left-winger like he was before. He doesn’t feel like he is a No. 10 like he was before, too.

“The position that he likes to play is the position where we are playing him every minute we give him, which is the right side of the attack.

“So when Gareth plays starting or coming from the bench, that’s his position in our game.”
