PSG sporting director Antero Henrique had spoken out a few days ago, saying, “Adrien Rabiot has told me that he will not sign a contract extension & that he wishes to leave the club at the end of the season, so once his current deal finishes. The consequences are very clear: he is indefinitely benched.”
The midfield ace had a long standing contract dilemma at the club with several other clubs interested in securing his services. It seemed for a while that all was sorted with the player set to sign a new extended contract. However, such hopes have faded since and Rabiot has been more and more strongly linked with other clubs.
Camp Nou outfit FC Barcelona have been in particular a strong in pursuit of Rabiot. It now seems that Rabiot’s latest antics of misleading the board over a new contract has not gone down well with the fans who want the player to leave.
During the club’s 2-1 win at Ligue 2 side Orleans; midway through the second half, a section of the travelling PSG support produced several banners which read: “Rabiot, we do not need you.”
What next for the player who still has another 6 months left at the club?
