Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco has fallen out with his manager Diego Simeone, possibly laying the groundwork for a move to the Premier League.
Manchester United and Chelsea are thought to be monitoring Carrasco’s situation at the Spanish La Liga side, after his frustration boiled over at the weekend.
The Belgian, 23, kicked a water bottle in anger after being substituted in Atletico’s goalless draw with Alaves on Saturday.
He only signed a new deal with Atletico in October, and it is not the first time he and Simeone have clashed this season. Spanish outlet AS claimed earlier this month Carrasco’s decision to change his personal trainer had gone against the club’s wishes.
Carrasco has alerted Chelsea and United after scoring 10 goals in 29 games. United were already closing in on Carrasco’s Atletico teammate Antoine Griezmann, although Jose Mourinho may wait until the end of the season, before making his move for the Frenchman, with the January transfer window closing fast.
Carrasco joined Atletico from French club Monaco in 2015, and scored in last season’s Champions League Final defeat to Real Madrid, becoming the first Belgian to score in a European Cup final.
He has fifteen caps for Belgium, and was in their Euro 2016 squad.
