Pep Guardiola believes Manchester City can defend both titles this season.

The Citizens are set to take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final later today.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that he believes his side can defend both the titles they had picked up last season. The reigning Carabao Cup champions are set to take on Chelsea in the final later today and will look to repeat their cup clinching performance that they showed in the last season. Chelsea were decimated at home by the Premier League champions weeks ago in a 6-0 rout, which is sure to give them a lot of confidence going into this match.

Speaking to the media ahead of the cup clash, the Spanish gaffer said, “Once we are in the final, the final is the most important game in the season. We know the Premier League is the most important one, then the Champions League.”

He added, “But the cup is what it is. And now the Carabao Cup is the most important game by far. Of course, it would be good for us if Manchester United take a result, but we have a final. Maybe for United and Liverpool the cup it is not important because in their cabinet of trophies, they have many titles. But it is not the case for us and retaining a title will be good and playing a final will be good.”

He concluded, “Always it will help us grow as a club. For the players and managers coming in the future, they have to know how to arrive in the last stages for all the titles. That is what I count when I see a big, big club. We are in the final. Even Chelsea play in the last decade a lot of finals, a lot more than us. It will be an incredibly tough game for them and for us – and of course we want to win it.”
