Ligue 1 club wanted to employ former-Borussia Dortmund manager

Jurgen Klopp has rejected a job offer from Ligue 1 side Marseille.

The German manager has been without a job since the end of last season, when he announced that he’d be leaving Borussia Dortmund, but he hasn’t been short of offers.

According to his representatives, Klopp has just been offered the Marseille job, but he turned down their approaches as he didn’t think it was the right move for him.

Klopp admitted that he wouldn’t rush into any job he didn’t feel right about, and he has snubbed a chance to manage in France.

Marseille are in need of a new manager following the shock resignation of Marcelo Bielsa following their opening day defeat in Ligue 1 to Caen.

However, Klopp will not be taking over at the club after his representatives confirmed that a job offer was turned down.

Marseille Rejected

“It is correct that Klopp has rejected Marseille,” Klopp’s representative, Marc Kosicke, told Bild.

“OM were really interested in signing him, but the time is not right yet for Jurgen to return to coaching.”

Klopp has previously been linked with Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool.
