Boateng is also targeted by Real Madrid and Barcelona

Manchester City are ready to go head-to-head with neighbours Manchester United to sign Bayern Munich Defender Jerome Boateng this summer.According to The Sun,the German International could be available this summer.

Boateng joined the Bundesliga giants in 2011 from Manchester City and could reunite with the club as Pep Guardiola intents to to sign him as he was impressed by him during his three year spell at Bayern Munich.

But Pep could face stiff competition from Manchester United as Mourinho looks set to bolster his defense. Mourinho wants to solve his defensive problems as he targets the Premier League next season.He is frustrated by some of his defenders and wants to lure him where he could partner Eric bailly.

Boateng is one of the finest defenders in the Europe and has also attracted interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. Bayern Munich would demand at least £50 million for the 29 year old according to reports.

Those who are close to the Defender says that he wants to seek a new challenge.

The centre-back, who can also play at right-back, has won five Bundesliga titles and a Champions League in his six seasons at the Allianz and was a key member of Germany’s 2014 World Cup winning squad.

He has been a regular for Munich this season and contributed 2 goals and 4 assists in 24 appearances.
