The Leeds youngster could move to Goodison Park this month

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that the club have approached Leeds United over the possible transfer of Sam Byram.

There was reports that the two clubs had agreed a fee of £4 million, but Leeds’ boss Steve Evans has insisted that a bid has yet to be submitted by the Toffees.

“As you can imagine, there has been an approach. That’s where the confirmation came from Leeds United, but there is nothing else to comment on,” said Martinez in his press conference this morning.

The 22-year old is a right-back by trade, but has been deployed further forward at times this season.

Since Evans joined Leeds as their gaffer, Byram has played most of his football on the right-wing or as a number 10 in behind the striker – making him a versatile option.
