Serie A official transfers

Mattia Caldara (loan, from AC Milan to Atalanta)

Mattia Caldara has completed a return to Atalanta from AC Milan on an initial 18-month loan deal. Atalanta also have the option to make the move permanent, with reports suggesting the Rossoneri would be due a €15 million fee to do so. A statement read: “AC Milan announces the agreement for the player Mattia Caldara to join Atalanta on an 18-month loan deal with right to buy. AC Milan wishes Mattia the best of luck in his future sporting career.”

Much was expected of Atalanta academy product Caldara when he moved to San Siro in a €35 million move from Juventus, which saw Leonardo Bonucci transferred back to the Bianconeri in a similar deal in August 2018. However, the centre-back has made just two competitive appearances for the Rossoneri, largely due to two serious injuries. Caldara sustained an Achilles tendon rupture in September 2018, before rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in April.

Diego Demme (€12m, from RB Leipzig to Napoli)

Diego Demme has left RB Leipzig to join Napoli, the two clubs have announced. Napoli have paid a reported fee of €12 million to sign Demme who has played for RB Leipzig since January 2014. “I’m proud to have played a part in RB Leipzig’s journey. Leipzig will always be a part of me. I am so thankful to the club and all the people here, and will come back again and again,” the Spanish said, as quoted by the club.

“These six challenging and successful years have allowed me to fulfill my childhood dream, my lifelong goal. I am happy about the great times behind me and the incredible things to come,” he added. Demme made 214 appearances for RB Leipzig with two goals and 18 assists to his name.

Patrick Cutrone (loan, from Wolves to Fiorentina)

Italy international striker Patrick Cutrone has completed his loan move from Wolverhampton to Fiorentina, both clubs confirmed on Friday. The Serie A club said the 22-year-old has joined on an initial two-year loan with an obligation to make the move permanent. The deal is reported to be worth in the region of €20 million euros.

Cutrone moved to the English Premier League club last July from AC Milan on a four-year contract, but he struggled to make an impact starting mostly on the bench with just nine starts in 24 appearances, and three goals. He has already made his Fiorentina debut against SPAL, coming from the bench to play the remaining 16 minutes.

Kwang-song Han (€5m, from Juventus to Al Duhail)

Qatar Stars League outfit Al Duhail have announced the signing of Korea international striker Kwang-song Han from Italian Serie A giants Juventus. This is the Qatari club’s third acquisition from Juventus in recent times following the signings of Moroccan centre-back Medhi Benatia in January 2019 and Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic in December 2019.

Al Duhail paid Juventus around €5 million for the services of the North Korean forward who had only permanently signed for the Italian club this month following a three-month loan. He had been in Italy since 2017, having been brought in by Serie A side Cagliari. He made 12 appearances for them and scored once in the league. He was also sent to Perugia on loan for two seasons, where he made thirty-nine appearances and scored eleven times.
