10. Gokhan Tore

Kick starting the list of the Top 10 Players That Never Made it At Chelsea Gokhan Tore. The striker moved to Chelsea after breaking away from the youth team of Bayer Leverkusen seeking for first team football at Chelsea but, he only managed to play one preseason friendly with Chelsea before being shipped off to Hamburg.

The Turkish star now plays for Besiktas and is also a regular member of the Turkish national football team.

9. Andre Schurrle

Andre Schurrle was one of the players destined to be a big star at Chelsea but that was not the case. The German joined Chelsea football club in 2013 for a fee of €22 million he was expected to be one of the new generation player signings and given a five year contract but he found himself competing for a place in the team with the Premier League’s best player Eden Hazard.

In his first season with the club he made 43 appearances but made 22 in his second season with the blues he later moved to Wolfsburg in January but his appearances for Chelsea made him earn a Premier League medal for the 2014/15 Premier League season which was won by Chelsea Football Club.

8. Juan Sebastian Veron

Juan Sebastien Veron is also one of Chelsea’s Worst Ever Signing he is also on the list of Sir Alex’s Worst Ever Signings. Juan was considered as one of the best midfielders in Argentina before he joined Manchester United and Chelsea. The midfielder joined Chelsea from Manchester United for £15 million.

He performed well in his first few games for the club before he was involved in injuries his performances begun to slow down and only managed 13 appearances for Chelsea. When Jose Mourinho arrived at the club Juan Sebastien was loaned out to Inter Milan for two seasons before he was finally sold out.

His transfer to Chelsea is considered as one of the worst in the clubs history.

7. Lassana Diarra

A player brought in as Makelele successor. Lassana Diarra joined Chelsea in 2005 after he was discovered by Chelsea scouts as a younger version of Claudio Makelele. Unfortunately, he only managed to make 14 appearances for the blues in three seasons with the club before joining Arsenal and later moving to Real Madrid.

Lassana has featured in a number of games for the French national team though. Diarra now finds himself playing for PSG.

6. Ricardo Quaresma

I remember watching this guy on youtube clips when I was younger and being amazed with what he could do with the ball. Im my mind, he was another Cristiano Ronaldo, and I got excited when I heard he was coming to Chelsea. Unfortunately, he didn’t do anything at Chelsea and he disappointed.

So what happened to him? Well Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma is currently playing for Besiktas in the Turkish League. After his brief loan spell with Chelsea, the Portuguese only managed to make four appearances for the club. Ricardo Quaresma made a statement after joining the London club from Inter Milan saying his health and confidence were restored following the switch to the Premier League. After his loan spell ended, Chelsea did not renew his contract and he left the club.

5. Brian Laudrup

Closing down on the top five is Brian Laudrup. Brian Laudrup joined Chelsea but wanted to cancel his contract before even appearing for the Blues due to the clubs squad rotation policy. In the short tenure at Chelsea Brian Laudrup only managed to make 11 appearances for the blues scoring just a single goal in the process but the goals was a very valuable one which was against Copenhagen in the cup winners cup.

He later joined a Danish club and was an important member of the 98 Danish World Cup team.

4. Claudio Pizarro

Well, after having been a success at Bayern Munich and winning three titles with Bayern Munich the German thought it was time for a new challenge and chose Chelsea football club but, the striker didn’t make it at the club like he did with Bayern Munich.

He first challenge with Chelsea started off with a penalty miss in the community shield but managed to score on his Premier League debut. However, after the departure of Jose Mourinho, Pizarro found himself out of the team after the arrival of Nickolas Anelka at the club.

The following season he was loaned back to Werder Bremen before leaving the club finally. He left Chelsea with only 2 goals in 32 matches for the club.

3. Kevin De Bruyne

Currently playing for Manchester City after his £57 million move from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2015. After his spectacular performances during his time at Genk, Kevin De Bruyne was one of the most wanted young talents in the world and was battled by many European sides. But he chose to join Chelsea in 2012 and was immediately loaned to Werder Bremen where he managed to score 10 goals and got nine assists. He was expected to make a big impact for the blues the following season but that was not the case only managing to make nine appearances without scoring a single goal for the club. He was then sold to Werder Bremen permanently for £18 million in 2014.

I still get upset at how good De Bruyne has turned out to be and find myself wishing Chelsea, or rather Jose Mourinho, didn’t sell him. Rumour is that Mourinho and De bruyne didn’t get along which is the reason why he sold him.

2. Andriy Shevchenko

One of the best players to ever play for AC Milan. After making over 200 appearances and scoring 127 goals for the Italian giants AC Milan, Andriy Shevchenko joined Chelsea in a club transfer fee of €43 million back in 2007. Unfortunately, his time with the blues was filled up with injuries which led to loss of form and also missed the 2007 Champions League final.

His appearances in the second season where further reduced due to injuries. He was then loaned back to AC Milan before finally leaving the club to join up with old club Dynamo Kiev.

1. Romelu Lukaku

Coming in at number one is one player who was brought into the club as a Didier Drogba successor. Romelu Lukaku was signed at the age of 18 from Anderlecht and was assumed to be at the club for many more years to come as he had the potential to become one of the best at the club. He was part of the Chelsea team which suffered two Premier League setbacks before winning the Champions League the following season. The Belgian was loaned to West Bromwich Albion where he outscored his Chelsea teammates with 17 Premier League goals. He then joined Everton on a permanent deal until then eventually joining Chelsea rivals Manchester United for around £90m.
