Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has raised questions over Loris Karius’ departure. The latter recently has joined Besiktas on a two year loan deal.

Karius’ departure has shell shocked the Belgian custodian as he thinks he should have been informed about the deal. Mignolet hasn’t featured for the Reds since January and the keeper is likely to take the number two slot at Anfield following the arrival of Alisson becker from AS Roma this summer.

Alisson started the first two Premier League matches and will continue to be the preferred choice for Jurgen Klopp who was compelled to bring reinforcements after some shoddy display of goalkeeping last season. Mignolet has also been linked with a number of clubs but Klopp is unlikely to sanction his move.

The 30 year old insists he wants to be a part of the starting lineup.  “I find it bizarre that Karius was loaned while I also had options to be loaned.

“But for some reason that was not possible.

“A goalkeeper who was preferred to me last year may leave on a loan basis – strange.

“The transfer of Karius doesn’t change anything for me.

“I have always been clear that I want to play.

“Being number two or number three makes little difference. Playing minutes is the most important thing.

“Nobody has said anything to me after the departure of Loris.

“So I don’t know what my future at Liverpool is.

“We will see what happens this week.”
