What are your views on the 2017-18 season? This season is full of upsets and as a result many top flight teams have ended up in a crisis. Have you wondered which clubs around the globe are experiencing a crisis? Mostly we tend to confine our attention to the teams which are having a good campaign but we have decided to turn the tables and look at this from another angle. We have compiled a top ten list to enlighten you about what is happening in the world of football. Which clubs do you think have made it on to this list?

Many clubs which have been well known for being at the top half of the league table are not fulfilling that but are doing the exact opposite which is being found at the bottom of the log. So which clubs do you have in mind? Is it Liverpool? is it Newcastle ? or the defending Premier League Champions Chelsea? 10. Dundee United

Starting the shortlist of the Top 10 Football teams in Crisis is Dundee United from Scotland. The Scottish Premier League holds a number of great football clubs like Celtic F.C, Hibernian F.C, Rangers F.C and Dundee United. Of late, Dundee United has been at its worst form. Teams like Ross country and St. Johnstone which were not even a challenge for the club before are now giving Dundee United a struggle. Currently sitting at number 12 of the SPL table, with minor teams like Ross Country and Hamilton on the 4th and 5th positions respectively, Dundee United has proved to be at its worst since the beginning of the 2015/16 season.

9. Aston Villa

The English Premier League arguably holds the toughest teams in world football. With competition from big teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea FC, Manchester City and Liverpool, its a challenge for most of the other teams of the Premier League. Aston Villa have been one of the most notorious in the previous years but recently their performance has been at its worst. They were relegated two seasons ago have spent this season trying to get back into the Premier League. 

8. Vasco da Gama

Vasco da Gama which makes it at number 8 has been on its worst performance this season. The Brazilian club, has been in a fairly good form in the past years and have molded players like Romario, Ademir and Roberto Dinamite into some of the best players of the Brazil Serie A league. Even with these these amazing players and more with the team, Vasco da Gama still ends up in a crisis, currently sitting at the bottom of the league table and receive a lot of mockery from rival fans.

7. Blackpool

In 2010/11 season, Blackpool was promoted to the Premier League and the Club was off to a fresh start winning their first game against Wigan Athletic 4-0 although it did not end well as they finished at 19th place and were relegated out of the Premier league. Since 2011, Blackpool has had really tough times, having swapped three managers and one serving the shortest time ever in their history. Two weeks before the start of the 2014/15 season, the club lost 27 players making it even harder for Blackpool to improve their form and on 6th April 2015, Blackpool hit rock bottom when they were relegated to League one with 6 league fixtures remaining.

6. Marseille

A team known in the French Ligue 1 as a 10-time league winner and 1992 European Cup winners. Marseille has always been one of the great teams of the Ligue one, having a term “Le Classique” referred to the game  they play against Paris Saint-Germain. Despite all the glory and performance they displayed, in August 2015, Bielsa resigned from his position which shocked the teams players that he’d leave at a crucial time. The club had Bielsa replaced with Franck Passi to take his post on an intern basis.

5. Newcastle

Coming down to the top 5 on the Top 10 Football teams in Crisis list is Newcastle United F.C. As all records stand, the last time Newcastle United had a trophy to their name was in 1955 with th FA cup. It does not take much for one to notice that the club has been in a crucial state up since then. Of course the club has had its good seasons, regaining its form in 2013 since 2007, the club signed potential players like Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa and Ryan Taylor. But even though they have been back in the Premier League this season under Rafa Benitez, they are still near the bottom of the League. 

4. Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen have struggled in recent years. There was once a time when they were in the Champions League and fighting for the top place in the Bundesliga. Werder Bremen have a 4 time winning record of the Bundesliga but with their current form, they are definitely not getting the 5th win.

3. Sunderland

For the past few years, the Black Cats haven’t been on their best performance, nearly at the end of the 2013/14 season, Sunderland was lucky to win 3 crucial games against Cardiff, Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion to avoid relegation. But last season, they were relegated and now this season, they are near the bottom of the Championship table facing the real threat of going down again to the League One. The Owner of the club and the chair Ellis short have seen a fault in most managers and their player purchases and ways of managing to improve the club have been poor.

2. FC Twente

On number 2 sit FC Twente of the Dutch Eredivisie league. FC Twente has had record of financial problems and at some points, bankruptcy during the 2002/03 season, the club was almost vanished due to its issues and recently during the 2014/15 season. Although the team showed some promising performance when they won the Dutch cup and Cup double under Steve McClaren in the 2010/11 season but of let they are in bad form.

1. Chelsea F.C

And on number 1 of the Top 10 Football teams in Crisis, Chelsea F.C. The Blues have one of the best teams in the English Premier League with very high standards. The Club has never experienced a crisis as crucial as the one they are in now. After winning the Premier League last season, their luck has turned over badly for the club since the start of the season despite still having great players like Hazard, Fabregas , and many others. The Blues currently sit in fifth position with a battle for the top four. It’s not quite a crises but for a club like Chelsea they should be competing for titles every year, not battling for top four.  The direction of the club board members seem to clash with first team head coach Antonio Conte and it’s expected Conte will leave at the end of the season.
