Man United Transfer Targets this Summer in 2018

Man United transfer targets this summer in 2018? Manchester United transfer targets this summer in 2018? Who are the Man United transfer targets this summer?

The Red Devils will be looking to strengthen their side after  a decent, but not spectacular, season. Jose Mourinho has a track record of spending big in transfer windows and in the summer. So here we look at the Top 10 Man United transfer targets this summer in 2018. with the club still linked with a number of different talents from around Europe.

They’re still looking at players in a variety of different positions and when the new Premier League campaign begins later this year, Mourinho will be able to get a better picture of which areas still need strengthening.

Here are ten Man United transfer targets this summer.

  1. Antoine Griezmann

Antoine Griezmann is one of the top Man United transfer targets this summer in 2018.

The Atletico Madrid man pledged his loyalty to his club, earlier this season, with the side placed under a transfer ban.

Rather than leave his club struggling, he decided to stay and help Madrid for at least another season.

However, there are still signs that the Frenchman could leave La Liga and make a move to England. United are likely to launch a fresh bid again this summer.

  1. Sergi Roberto

United already lodged a bid for the Barcelona man last summer. One of the top Man United transfer targets this summer in 2018 is Sergi Roberto.

Roberto can play in defence or in midfield. And he has shown signs of his talent at current club Barcelona and in doing so has drawn the attention of several sides from around Europe.

The Red Devils are keen to add him to their squad. As he would provide depth to their squad in several positions, something which is essential considering that the club will not just be battling in the league this season but in Europe too.

  1. Leander Dendoncker

Last season was a very memorable one for the Anderlecht man. The Belgian impressed massively in his home country’s league and was one of the standout players of the campaign.

He impressed both in domestic competition and in Europe and in doing so, caught the eye of many bigger clubs who are now all vying for his signature.

One of those clubs is the Red Devils, who are eager to bring the 22-year old to England.

He’s only young and has plenty of time to get even better, something which his current club are very aware of and they aren’t too keen to part ways with one of their most talented players.

However, if Jose Mourinho puts in a high enough bid, then again it could be enough to tempt Anderlecht to sell him on while they can. The current market has seen a lot of massive fees thrown around and the Belgian side may decide to capitalise while they can. United would not mind splashing the cash too, as it means they sign a player with huge potential.

  1. Marco Verratti

Man United have kept an eye on Verratti for quite a while now.

The Red Devils may have signed Nemanja Matic but they are still keen to add reinforcements in the midfield area, especially with some of their midfielders potentially on the way out.

Verratti would be a shrewd addition to the Old Trafford side, as he continues to impress with his commanding performances in the centre of the field for PSG.

United will have to move fast to secure him or face losing out on him entirely. The Ligue 1 giants hope to tie his long-term future down with them though.

  1. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Man United made Sergej Milinkovic-Savic one of their top Man United Transfer targets this summer in 2018. The Lazio midfielder is one of Europe’s top prospects and Jose Mourinho is reportedly an admirer of him.

The big midfielder has all the attributes to be a top player. He’s big, strong, god in the air, and he can attack, as well as defend.

With Paul Pogba reportedly on the way out of United after getting on Jose Mourinho’s bad side as well as a bad season so far for him, it means Man United will be even more desperate to sign him.

  1. Gareth Bale

There’s no doubting that Gareth Bale would be a massive signing and a massive statement of intent by Man United if they were to bring him to Old Trafford.

The former Tottenham man is arguably one of the best players in Europe right now but has struggled for much gametime or consistency at current club Real Madrid.

He has shone on several occasions for the Spanish giants but Madrid may be willing to let the Welshman leave this summer, as they look to sign several other big name players from around Europe.

It would take a huge amount of money to bring Bale back to the Premier League but Jose Mourinho would no doubt be willing to pay whatever it takes. If he has the funds, to sign the 28-year old. The proven winger would be ideal for England and would no doubt prove a huge boost to the side.

Madrid may be unwilling to sell unless a huge offer came in and Mourinho himself has reportedly admitted that a deal is unlikely to happen but if the funds are available, then never say never in football.

  1. Fabinho

This transfer saga dragged out over the course of the entire summer transfer window last year and yet the midfielder still remains a Monaco player for the time being.

The Ligue 1 side have lost a number of important players to other clubs so far this summer like Silva to Man City and Bakayoko to Chelsea. The one player they have managed to keep hold of has been Fabinho but Man United have been relentless in their pursuit of him.

There have been more twists and turns than a roller-coaster with this saga. A deal seemed extremely likely to happen. Several news outlets reported that a deal was done. But then the deal was off again and a move was on for other United targets. Manchester United the signed Nemanja Matic instead.

However, the player is most definitely still on United’s radar and speculation has only increased in the last few days after the player stormed out of a Monaco training session in a fit of rage, sparking rumours that he could be on his way out of the club.

Again, he wouldn’t be cheap but after a superb season for Monaco, it would most definitely be value for money.

  1. Raphael Varane

United’s interest in Varane has cooled but he is still on the Red Devil’s wanted list.

The defender himself didn’t speak too fondly of Jose Mourinho last summer, leading many to believe that he wouldn’t make the move to Old Trafford if it meant working with the Special One again.

Real Madrid themselves value the centre-back highly, as he has become a key part of their side and they would be massively unwilling to let him leave.

United though, despite already signing a centre-back this summer in Victor Lindelof and having a solid partner alongside him in Eric Bailly, are always keen to add more depth to their squad. The addition of Varane would be a huge boost to their entire back-line.

The Red Devils could decide to launch one final late move for the player this month and if that fails, then they could continue to follow up their interest this summer.

  1. Cristiano Ronaldo

This is the signing that most Man United fan’s probably dream of – a return to the club of a former Red Devils hero and one of the two best players in the world right now, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese winger is one of the top Man United transfer targets this summer.

The Portugal forward has only gone from strength to strength since leaving Old Trafford and will surely go down in history as one of the best players of all time.

For him to return to England with his former side would be a world-class move by manager Jose Mourinho and that move was nearly reality earlier this summer.

Reports emerged that Ronaldo wanted out of Real Madrid and there was only one viable club that it appeared he would move to in Man United.

Those reports have since cooled, with many speculating that he mainly used the whole episode to convince Real Madrid to either offer him a new deal or reassert his importance at the club.

Still United have still kept tabs on the whole situation and are waiting to see whether to plot a huge mega-money move for the player or not.

A deal could still happen this summer.

  1. Danny Rose

Danny Rose is a top target for the Red Devils.

The left-back is part of a Tottenham side that has impressed many over the past two seasons. Spurs will not want to lose the defender after having lost Kyle Walker last summer.

To lose another key part of their solid back-line would be a massive blow but with a fee of nearly £50m on his head, if any team matched that amount and bought the player, then Spurs would have more than enough funds to go out and find a suitable replacement.

United may be willing to pay that fee, as they look for another defensive recruit. Left-back is a position that Jose Mourinho is potentially on the lookout to fill and Rose has proved he is arguably one of the best in that position in the Premier League.

Like most players on this list, a deal would cost a large amount and his current club will be very unwilling to sell. Especially to a Premier League rival. However, that won’t stop United from at least testing the waters with a bid for the player’s signature.
