Most hated things in modern football 2018

What winds all fans up? Most hated things in modern football.

Football has changed over the decades. From the days of the 70’s/80’s, we really have come a long way to the football we see today. Here we look at the Most hated things in modern football.

We’ve seen some incredible things. Some top players, some iconic moments, some world-famous managers. However, the games has kept some old habits and kept some new ones that nobody wants or likes. We also see the most hated things in modern football.

Here, we’re going to talk about the 10 biggest things that bug football fans that are still part of the game today, do you agree with our list? Here are our Most hated things in modern football 2018.

Most hated things in modern football!

10) Managerial sackings

When Leicester City sacked their manager Claudio Ranieri just months after winning the Premier League title for them a season before, everybody couldn’t believe it. People were stunned, and then angry. These days, modern football is all about quick results and not many team owners seem to have the patience to stick with their manager through the tough times. A few bad results seems to be enough these days to get the manager sacked. And it’s something that a lot of people hate about modern football.

9) FIFA

No, not the game for Xbox and Playstation (although those servers really are annoying), but rather that corrupt football organisation that, over the years, have sold tickets on at a profit, taken cash for contracts, rigged voting for the location of the World Cup, and overlooked human rights violations around the glove. Shocking stuff

8) Transfer fees

Over the years, fans have gotten excited about the big money being paid for the best players in the world. In the past, we’ve associated the big fees with top players moving from club to club. However, in the last couple of years, the money in football has become ridiculous. In 2009, £80million could buy you Cristiano Ronaldo, yet now, look at the fees being paid for players who simply aren’t worth it compared with that price. Gonzalo Higuain moved to Juventus for £75.3million, while 30-year-old Hulk moved to China for £47million. Sadly, football is all about money now, and there isn’t much we can do about it.

7) Agents

Do any fans out there actually care about agents in today’s football world? Or does everyone else just generally hate their presence, especially in the transfer periods. For those who don’t know, the man in the picture is Mino Raiola, who is the representative of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Mario Balotelli and Romelu Lukaku, to name just a few. He, like many agents trying to make a name for themselves in the media, have no problems saying stupid, controversial things to kick up a fuss with managers and get their client’s names in the papers. Players who aren’t independent enough to represent themselves don’t deserve to be earning such crazy wages.

6) Referees

Referees are the influential figure on the pitch, but they seem to be getting worse and worse, and players are starting to respect them less and less. Refs can’t tell when is best to play advantage or not, what’s handball and what isn’t. They can’t even communicate properly with their assistants to decide on half of the offside decisions they need to make. They just make far too many errors that costs teams games.

5) International Breaks

My oh my, aren’t international breaks just the most boring weekends of the year? Yes, we know international qualifiers have to be played, so there’s little that can be done, but there’s nothing worse that finishing watching your team play and then knowing there’s 2 whole weeks to wait until the next big game, the struggle is real.

4) Half/Half scarves

Created purely for the purpose of making money. It’s utterly ridiculous that these exist for the most part. I have to admit, when there is a positive connection between the two clubs and it’s a momentous occasion, these things can be a half-decent souvenir to have as long as you don’t wear it in public (Liverpool vs Borussia Dortmund for example), but overall, half and half scarves are a joke.

3) Ticket prices

You’d think with all the money being thrown around by English clubs for transfers, ticket prices would be something that could be a little more reasonable in our country. It’s a long-standing problem, that is slowly becoming a bigger and bigger issue, with Arsenal fans in particular criticizing their club’s prices year after year with protests, and Liverpool also staging a protest against proposed ticket prices in February this year. In the 2015/16 season, a seat at the Emirates could cost as much as £97, while a season ticket could go all the way up to just over £2,000. Liverpool fans staged their walkout when ticket prices of up to £77 were proposed, and that’s fair enough, given that you can get season tickets at huge clubs such as Barcelona and Bayern Munich for around £100 or even less.

2) Diving

Ah, diving. A common feature on the field now that referees are trying to clamp down on, but yet again aren’t quite managing to. That man in the picture, Ashley Young, was famous for quite a few howlers while trying to win penalties. But there have been plenty of players guilty in trying to cheat the referee. Nobody enjoys it, and it’s just downright unprofessional.

1) Racism

How on Earth is this still an issue in the game? Yes, we understand that a lot of racism comes from crowds that generally have racism problems in their respective countries. But incidents like above between Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra, and also the John Terry/Anton Ferdinand incident, highlight the constant severity of the horrible issue in our modern game. It needs to stop, but who knows if it ever will.
