Liverpool are poised to complete the signing of former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, reports the Daily Express.
Reports in the Spanish media suggest that a deal is close for a one-year deal for the former Barcelona shot stopper, who is currently a free agent, having left the Catalan club during the summer.
The Spain international is close to returning to full fitness having sustained a cruciate ligament injury in March, and Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring the keeper to Anfield.
Liverpool are trying to convince Valdes to pen a deal, with current number one keeper, Simon Mignolet, currently un-challenged for the goalkeeping jersey at the Reds.
32 year old Valdes had previously hoped for a move to French Ligue 1 club Monaco, however the principality club pulled out of a deal for Valdes at the last minute.
