According to Italian news outlet, Calcio Mercato, West Ham United’s €40 offer for Krysztof Piatek has been rejected by Genoa.

This was Manuel Pellegrini’s second bid for the Polish centre-forward, the first one being worth €35m. With rumours constantly surrounding Marko Arnautovic’s future at the London Stadium, the Chilean boss has taken to the transfer market to make the necessary additions.

The Irons have climbed their way up the Premier League table after starting the 2018/19 campaign with 4 defeats on the trot. Fueled by the addition of talents like Issa Diop and Felipe Anderson, Pellegrini managed to get his side all the way up to the 9th spot of the league standings, 10 points behind sixth-placed Manchester United.

Piatek is one of the most wanted strikers in the Serie A due to his remarkable goal tally of 19 goals in 21 appearances this season. The 23-year-old has been an immediate hit for Genoa since being brought out of Crackovia for only €4m.

He also received his first cap for Poland last September in a 1-1 draw against the Republic of Ireland.

With Gonzalo Higuain close to finalising a move to Chelsea, AC Milan are also reported to be monitoring Piatek’s situation. Genoa are not too hesitant on selling off the striker and have also claimed to be in contact with AC Milan regarding a future move.
