Di Matteo eyes Schurrle deal

0

German star Andre Schurrle is being monitored by former boss Roberto Di Matteo, with the manager ready to bring the player to his home country.

The World cup winner has fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, after successive disappointing performances in the Capital One Cup and the Premier League so far this season .

Mourinho has even publically criticised Schurrle by responding to questions whether he was disappointed with the performance that the German gave against Shrewbury back in October.

And now it is understood that the winger could be allowed to leave in January with former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo offering the player a way out of the Premier League.

With Schalke now set to lose star man Julian Draxler, the club have began monitoring the situation of Schurrle, despite heavy interest from rivals Borrussia Dortmund .

Di Matteo is actively looking to see if he can secure a deal to sign Schurrle on loan with the option to buy or on a permanent deal once the January transfer window opens.

Norweigan Wonderkid agrees to Reds trials

0

Norweigan starlet Martin Odegaard has accepted an invitation to attend trials with Liverpool FC next month.

The 15 year old Stromsgodset player has been tracked of late by a whole host of Europe’s elite clubs, most notably Man United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Ajax after impressing in his first season in senior football.

He has even recently visited Real’s training facilities in Spain, and was reported to have visited Manchester last summer to have preliminary talks with the United. However Liverpool are the first team he has accepted trials from so far.

Odegaard made his debut for the Norweigan national senior side last year, becoming the youngest player ever to feature in a European qualifier.

Martin and his father are openly fanatical Liverpool fans, so his acceptance of Liverpool’s invitation wont come as a shock to those who know him. He recently said in an interview with German paper Sport Bild, “Liverpool have always been my dream club.”

Brendan Rodgers also had his say on the exciting winger, in a typically level-headed fashion. After Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid, he said to journalists, “Hes a big talent, at that age to be playing senior football and in a competitive league is remarkable. He’s got wonderful ability and wonderful talent, but there’s nothing much more to say about him yet.”

Odegaard was born December 17th 1998, and has already made 20 appearances for Tippeligaen side Stromsgodset’s senior team, as well as two international caps for Norway despite only very recently completing his compulsory education.

Why I didn’t leave Liverpool to join Arsenal

0

The Former Reds star was lined up by the Gunners before the begin of last season.

They made a £40m offer – in addition to a quid – keeping in mind the end goal to initiate a discharge proviso in his Liverpool contract.

Anyway Suarez selected to stay at Anfield in the wake of holding crunch converses with commander Gerrard

“We spoke about this when I went to Melwood to pick up my things at the end of the summer and he said: ‘You did the right thing, you waited until the best moment.’

“He had told me to play well for Liverpool, give it another year and it will be Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Barcelona coming for you and then you can go where you want, because you have the quality to play at any of those three clubs.”

Suarez hit 31 Premier League goals last season before a £75m move to Barcelona in the summer.

The Uruguay hitman, 27, is still a favourite at Anfield and made the move with Gerrard’s blessing.

The Anfield skipper said: “His [Suarez’s] wife is from Barcelona and I don’t think you can begrudge a player like that, who has worked so hard for his dream.

“You can’t go against him when he says he is leaving for Barcelona. His dream from the first day he came was to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona.

“Last summer when he was out in the cold and training on his own that’s the conversation I had with him. I said: ‘Don’t go to Arsenal’.

“I would have been really sad and disappointed to see Luis go to Arsenal. With all due respect to them, I said to him that he was too good for Arsenal.”

‘Matic motivated us before Liverpool clash’, says Azpilicueta

0

Chelsea defender, Cesar Azpilicueta, has revealed that it was down to Nemanja Matic’s pre-match team-talk that motivated the players to see off Livepool.

The Spanish international revealed that the Serbian rallied the team ahead of kick-off at Anfield, and The Blues went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Gary Cahill and Diego Costa.

Jose Mourinho’s men did go 1-0 down after Emre Can gave the hosts the lead, but two goals from the visitors saw the three-points return to Stamford Bridge.

After the game, Azpilicueta revealed that Matic was the man that rallied the players and it was his speech that got the team motivated.

“He just said if we want to be champions then we needed to win the game,” Azpilicueta told the club’s website.

“It’s our target to be champions and when you go to the stadiums where it’s really hard you have to do a very good job.”

As well as Azpilicueta, the club-captain, John Terry, also revealed that Matic’s talk was very motivating as well.

“It was very inspiring. Everyone takes their turn before the game and he did very well,” he told BT Sport.

“He’s been different class since he came back [from Benfica this summer] and he’s a real player for the team. He’s been at the heart of some great team performances.”

Chelsea Set To Sign Varane

0

Raphael Varane, who is widely thought of as one of the best young centre backs in the world, looks set to earn his trade in the Premier League.

Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, has reportedly promised Jose Mourinho the funds to secure the deal in January.

The Chelsea boss has made no secret of his interest in signing the French defender in the past, and it now looks as though he will get his wish.

Mourinho, who worked with Varane during their time together at the Bernabeu, is ready to spend £19million on the starlet, and after Abramovich gave him the green-light, it looks like the club will push through with their interest.

Varane threatened to quit Madrid over the Summer over fears about his game-time, but has since then been reassured about his role at the club.

However, if The Blues do come sniffing, the opportunity to work with Mourinho again and also play in the Premier League, could attract the Frenchman to a move away.

Didier Drogba drops exit hint

0

Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba, has hinted that he could leave the club at the end of the season.

The Ivorian international was re-signed by The Blues by Jose Mourinho in the Summer, but the veteran knows that more strikers are likely to come in next Summer, meaning he could have to leave in order to play regular first-team football.

Mourinho already signed Diego Costa and Loic Remy along with Drogba, but is reportedly interested in signing Anderson Talisca from Benfica next year, and that would see Drogba pushed further down the pecking order.

When asked about his future and his role at Stamford Bridge, the 36-year-old said: “This year the key for me is to enjoy my football and to be with my team-mates and to win trophies.

“There is one more year to go so let’s do it, let’s win more trophies, let’s make history again.

“This relationship between me and the fans goes both ways, the way they show their support and the way they love me. If there is some way I love them even more because of all we achieved together, all the history.

“I have always said my first eight years here were the best years of my career. I know they enjoyed it because I did.

“I’m far from all the players who made history here, but I’m also next to them.”

Manchester United may accept £20M Mata bid

0

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata could be sold by the club for as little as £20million.

Mata only came to Old Trafford from Chelsea in January for £37.1M on a four-year deal, but he has largely struggled for game time this season after the arrival of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid.

And according to reports in Spain, United boss Louis van Gaal may be prepared to take a £17.1M hit on Mata.

Spanish pair Valencia and Atletico Madrid are keen on signing the playmaker, and the midfielder may be tempted by a fresh start in his homeland.

Atletico, managed by Diego Simeone, may be the favourites to sign Mata, but Valencia, after a cash injection by Peter Lim, now have the financial clout to bring in big names.

Parlour urges Wenger to sign Matic

0

Ray Parlour has urged Arsene Wenger to sign Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic in order to fix Arsenal’s current defensive frailties.

Arsenal, in the last week, have thrown away a three goal lead against Anderlecht in the UEFA Champions League and a winning position against Swansea at the Liberty on Sunday.

Arsenal lost Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona in the summer, leaving them with only three established centre-backs; Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Calum Chambers, but with Mathieu Debuchy out injured, Chambers has been forced to cover at right back. This has left the Gunners extremely thin at the back.

After these recent capitulations, former Gunners midfielder Parlour has called for Wenger to sign Matic.

“I think he needs Matic from Chelsea, he’d be the perfect player to have just sit in front of the back four and that’s what he’s got to look at.

“That’s what he’s got to look at, he’s got to look at that defensive midfielder, he’s got to look at another centre half and buy defensive players now and good characters as well who can really get into players.”

It is rumoured that the long serving Frenchman has been handed a £20 million transfer kitty ahead of the January transfer window, so it may be sooner than later that the fans see a new signing at the Emirates.
