Real Madrid’s current manager was just as brilliant as a player as he is today as a coach. There are many stories we could tell about Zinedine Zidane’s incredible career, he really turned everything he touched into gold. With France, Zidane won the World Cup with his country as the 1998 tournament’s host.

Zizou scored two goals against Brazil with his head, and he continued to mesmerize the world in the upcoming years. By the time he started playing for Real Madrid, the man was already one of the world’s biggest legends. Watching him retire as a professional during that 2006 World Cup final was the hardest moments we’ve had to experience.

The Argentine former player was a joy to watch when he was living his best moments as a footballer. During his prime, even the rival fans paid their tickets just to watch him play. We still don’t understand how he did some of the things that we saw on those compilation videos.

Diego Maradona was a player who came before his time, he would still be one of the best today. The Argentine legend was one of the most influential figures in football when he was a player. But today, he still remains as an almost deity to millions of people in his country.

3. Lionel Messi

The other Argentine in our list is none other than Lionel Messi, the only man with six Ballon d’Or trophies on his name. For more than a decade, Messi has delighted us with his incredible talent. He is also half responsible for bringing us the biggest rivalry in sports history.

This is one of those footballers who will make a major impact after he decides to retire. We believe that nobody is ready for the day when it happens. The world of football will be a little less joyful when Lionel Messi isn’t kicking a ball inside Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium anymore.

The Portuguese star is the other half that is responsible for bringing us the biggest sports rivalry in history. This is a football prodigy who worked harder than anybody else to get to where he is. There is no one that takes his career more seriously than Cristiano, and this is where his greatness lies.

When he eventually decides to retire, we can bet that it will be when he is already quite old. We wish we could find the fountain of youth in order to get Ronaldo in it and prevent him from getting any older.

1. Ronaldinho

Out of all the players that we wish could remain young forever, there is no one quite like Ronaldinho. The Brazilian genius gave us a wonderful start in his career until he was 26 years old. We all trusted that he would become the greatest player in football history but he didn’t have such high expectations.

When he realized that he kept his promise to his late father, Ronaldinho simply stopped caring about being the best. All of us were heartbroken when we realized that he would never be the same player after 2006.
