Ex-Man City forward edges closer to Boro move

Valencia’s Alvaro Negredo is to have a medical at Middlesborough today after agreeing a deal for a season-long loan.

It was revealed earlier this month that Boro were in talks to sign the ex-Manchester City star for a season, and it seems as though a deal has been agreed to bring him to the Riverside.

According to AS, Boro have agreed to pay a large chunk of Negredo’s salary and have inserted a clause which could see him move to the Riverside on a permanent deal next summer.

He is now in the country for a medical and to complete his move, and could be unveiled one day this week if it all goes to plan.

Negredo will become Boro’s sixth summer signing, following in the footsteps of Viktor Fischer, Victor Valdes, Antonio Barragan, Marten de Roon and Gaston Ramirez.

Boro are still hoping to complete the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic, who was shown around The Riverside 10 days ago.
