Arsenal are set to bid £6 million for Espanyol central defender Hector Moreno, according to reports from Spain.

This comes after Arsene Wenger revealed in a press conference he is looking to bring in ‘one or two’ new defensive reinforcements.

And the Frenchman seems to have made the Mexico international one of his prime targets.

Moreno has also attracted interest from Tottenham and Manchester United, with Spurs potentially the most likely destination, as Moreno played under Mauricio Pochettino at Espanyol in 2012.

The 26 year old is keen for a transfer, which has been echoed by his agent, previously stating: “Moreno is leaving Espanyol. He wants to leave and we’re looking for another team in Europe.”

The Gunners are also closing in on the signing of highly rated teenage defender Krystian Bielik, who had a medical at the Emirates today.
