Chelsea are reported to miss out on the transfer of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti
Despite being a high target for Chelsea, Verratti is said to be desperate to seal a move to Barcelona this summer.
According to reports, The Italy international has told close friends that he is keen to move to the Nou Camp ‘now or never’ after impressing the Catalan giants with his form in France.
Xavi is said to have told his old club to fork out whatever it takes to sign Verratti this summer, with a reported £88million offer ready.
According to Calciomercato, talks have already happened between the two clubs, and Mundo Deportivo say that Verratti is set on joining Barcelona since they dumped PSG out of the Champions League back in March.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has said to be confident he can get him over to Stamford Bridge this summer, however, latest rumours are saying a deal now looks very unlikely.
The Premier League champions could do with making signings in midfield, but look set to win the race for Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko in that area, while Nemanja Matic could be one name to make way this summer.
