“If Chelsea want me, they’ll pay for my transfer”, that’s according to Thorgan Hazard, brother of Eden, who is currently starring for Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
The 24 year-old was on Chelsea’s books between 2012 and 2015 after signing in the same summer as his brother, but moved to Germany permanently after an impressive loan spell.
However, his excellent form has lead to rumours that the Blues will now try and bring him back to Stamford Bridge. The Belgian international has suggested that a return is on the cards.
There has been talk that Antonio Conte could opt to trigger a buy-back option in Hazard’s contract, although the player himself isn’t even sure if such a clause exists.
“To be honest, even I don’t know if there is [a buy-back clause]. My father deals with that now.” he told press. “Sometimes, I hear there is one. Here, I’m told there isn’t. Frankly, I don’t know.”
“I don’t really think about it, I’m happy here. If Chelsea want to buy me back one day, I think they’ll do it, that’s not an issue.”
“If Chelsea want me, they’ll pay for my transfer and they’ll take me back. It’s just a detail.”
The younger Hazard brother has scored 22 goals and provided a further 23 assists in three years at Gladbach. You would imagine that he would relish the chance to reunite with Eden again in the Premier League.
