The Blues are now being linked with a move to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez.
The-35-year-old, is currently on loan over at Espanyol.
According to AS, The two clubs and Lopez are keen to make his stay permanent at the end of the season.
However, AS are claiming Chelsea could still hijack the deal if Thibaut Courtois decides to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
This story actually has legs as the Blues did in fact try to land him last summer and the player confirmed this was true.
It was in a interview Lopez recently revealed that Chelsea had tried to sign him last summer, telling Sky Italia:
“There was an opportunity last summer.
“I was very flattered by the manager’s interest. I don’t know if it will be maintained this summer.
“Last year it was a priority option but now things have changed, and I don’t know what will happen.
“It’s one of the big clubs in Europe and it will probably win the Premier League.
“My idea has not changed at all and my intention is to continue at Espanyol.
“I hope it happens.”
