Blues want to add striker to squad in the New Year
Chelsea have reportedly made a formal move for Shakhtar Donetsk striker Alex Teixeira, and it’s believed the transfer fee is around £30million.
The Brazilian attacker has already confirmed that Chelsea have approached him and offered him a deal, and it’s now been revealed that the Premier League side are prepared to part ways with around £30m to land the 25-year-old.
Teixeira has scored 23 goals in as many appearances so far this season for the Ukraine outfit, sparking interest from Chelsea and in particular from Roman Abramovich.
Lack of Goals
As for Chelsea, they’ve struggled for goals this season, with Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao all struggling for confidence, leaving Jose Mourinho‘s side short on the goal front.
Several strikers have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but it appears that Teixeira could be the most likely arrival.
The Brazilian is more of an attacking-midfielder than a striker, but Chelsea believe they could use him as a number-10 sitting just off Costa, and they think that’s the key to scoring more goals.
