The veteran striker has stressed the importance of keeping the Czech international

Didier Drogba, who will leave Chelsea in the summer, has urged the Blues they must keep Petr Cech.

The Ivorian will leave Stamford Bridge for a second time in his career but the 37-year-old does not want to see his Chelsea team-mate follow in his footsteps.

“The club should keep him because we know who Petr Cech is at this club. Look at the fans’ reaction to him” said Drogba after Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Sunderland.

Potential destinations

Last week, Cech’s agent confirmed he had been given permission to talk to potential suitors with Turkish side Besiktas believed to be leading the race for the 33-year-old.

Chelsea’s London rivals, Arsenal were also rumoured to be interested in the goalkeeper but manager Jose Mourinho would prefer Cech to opt for PSG, according to the Daily Mail.

Drogba’s future plans

The former Galatasaray forward revealed how he decided against staying on with the Premier League champions, instead opting for a move where he will be guaranteed more playing time.

Whilst Drogba admitted he still feels he can play at the top level, he acknowledged the need to move on and allow Chelsea’s youth a chance to flourish.
