Anfield sources name their price

According to reports, Liverpool would be prepared to sell Raheem Sterling if a £50million offer is made.

The Reds have been adamant in recent weeks that they won’t sell the England international no matter what happens with his contract saga, but it now appears that they do in fact have their price.

Interest in Sterling

It’s claimed figures around Anfield would accept an offer of around £50m for the 20-year-old, alerting Manchester City in particular.

City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal have all been linked with the winger, but City are considered favourites due to their need to sign young players and English players this Summer.

Manuel Pellegrini‘s side will only have Joe Hart as a first-team senior player who is English, and that is something they will need to address in order to fit in line with the Premier League regulations.

Controversial week for Liverpool

Despite Brendan Rodgers publicly stating this week that he expects Sterling to honour his two-year contract, it’s now believed that if a £50m offer is made in that time, the club will accept.

Rodgers was certain that he expects Sterling to remain loyal despite the controversial week he has had, and he expects him to remain at Anfield for the remainder of his contract.

News broke on Monday evening that the 20-year-old wouldn’t be signing a new contract, and since then, Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward has been dominating the headlines with comments regarding the saga and ex-Liverpool players.

Ward called Jamie Carragher ‘a knob’, before saying his client wouldn’t sign an extension for the club even if they offered him £900k-a-week.

With Sterling adamant on leaving, Liverpool will now consider any offers that are formally made, but £50m is their valuation of the winger.
