City chasing deal for Aston Villa midfielder
Manchester City are believed to be close to wrapping up a deal for Aston Villa’s England international midfielder Fabian Delph.
Delph, 25, was a pivotal figure last season for Villa as they preserved their Premier League status and reached the FA Cup final.
City’s midfield options have been depleted so far this summer, with the departures of Frank Lampard and James Milner and Manuel Pellegrini will be looking to add to his squad.
Homegrown Talent
According to ESPN, City have earmarked Delph for not just his undoubted on-pitch talent but also his purchase would increase the club’s homegrown quota.
Delph only signed a new deal at Villa six months ago but included in the contract was a buyout clause of £8million and it seems City are ready to trigger that clause.
