Higuain: ‘Napoli don’t need me”

Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain has insisted that Napoli will be fine without him in their Serie A title challenge.

Higuain has played a key role for Napoli this season, scoring 12 goals and helping his side into second spot in Italy’s top division.

The Argentine international has been linked with a move to Chelsea with the Blues potentially seeking cover, or even a replacement, for the out-of-sorts Diego Costa.

And Higuain has played down the role he is playing at Napoli, and was speaking ahead of their big clash against leaders Inter Milan on Monday.

“It is still too early to say that Monday will be decisive, but it is a huge game for first place,” Higuain told Il Corriere della Sera

“We will be playing to win for sure but Napoli’s success doesn’t depend on me.

“The team have played a few games without me and have won, so to be at 100 per cent they do not need me”.
