Tottenham Hotspur could be missing goalkeeper Hugo Lloris for the start of their Champions League campaign.

The French stopper picked up a hamstring injury in the North London club’s Premier League opener at Everton, and had to be substituted for Michel Vorm.

In trying to stop Ross Barkley’s shot, which found its way into the net to put Everton ahead, Lloris fell awkwardly into the goal.

Lloris is reportedly going to be sidelined for around a month, which could rule him out of their Champions League opener next month.

He will definitely miss Spurs’ league games, against Crystal Palace and Liverpool, as well as France’s international fixtures against Italy and Belarus.

Lloris will try to return for Tottenham’s Premier League game against Stoke on 10th September, with the Champions League group stages set to begin a few days later.

A Tottenham statement read: “Following further assessment and scans of the left hamstring injury sustained by Hugo Lloris in the 1-1 draw at Everton on Saturday, we can confirm he is expected to be out of action for around four weeks.

“Our captain left the field during the first half at Goodison Park and our medical team will continue to monitor his progress during his rehabilitation to determine when he will be ready to return to training.”
