Italian champions Juventus have been made favourites to sign Chelsea outcast David Luiz in January, with the Brazilian having been told that he can leave the club in January.
Luiz has hardly played since falling out with the former Juve boss Antonio Conte at the end of October, and could be available for a cut price as a result.
According to reports in the Daily Mirror, Juve are front runners to sign the 30 year-old although they could face competition from Manchester United after defender Eric Bailly was ruled out with a long-term injury.
The Italians sold talisman Leonardo Bonucci to AC Milan in the summer and have not quite looked the same in defence since his departure. Giorgio Chiellini is also coming to the end of his career and is out of contract in June.
They are currently third behind Inter and Napoli, and will be seeking reinforcements in order to continue their run of six consecutive Serie A titles.
Chelsea also lie in third having beaten Southampton on Saturday. Youngster Andreas Christensen has really stepped up to the mark in recent weeks in the absence of Luiz.
Despite officially being listed as injured, it seems unlikely now that the Brazilian will ever be an important part of Conte’s plans so an exit would probably suit all parties.
He had similar issues with former manager Jose Mourinho during his first spell with the Blues and eventually left to join PSG in 2014, but returned to the club two years later.
