Source confirms club are keen on Frenchman

A Manchester United source has confirmed that the club are interested in signing Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The Frenchman has been strongly linked with a move away from St Marys Stadium after a potential move away last Summer was blocked by new manager Ronald Koeman.

Schneiderlin Denied Move

Schneiderlin wanted to quit the club along with several of his team-mates, who all completed moves to Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal respectively.

However, after asking to quit the club, Koeman told the midfielder that he would have to stay and wouldn’t be sold over the Summer.

At first, the Frenchman took the news badly and tweeted about his displeasure of being kept against his will, but he eventually accepted the decision and had a superb campaign for The Saints.

Midfielder Wants Champions League Football

Southampton were in the top-four battle for most of the season, but after falling away in the New Year, The Saints finished in seventh place and were left with Europa League football.

However, Schneiderlin has already admitted that he wants to move this Summer and wants to move to a Champions League club, making Arsenal and United favourites.

Arsenal are keen to add another holding-midfielder to go alongside Francis Coquelin, whilst United are in the market for a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick.

With both teams interested, a bidding war is expected to come over the Summer, but the first move could be made by The Red Devils after a United source has confirmed their interest in the holding-midfielder.

United Source Reveals Interest

‘Yes, we are interested in Morgan,’ he confirmed.

‘But no deal is imminent’

Southampton value Schneiderlin at around £24million.
