Moyes convinced he is the right choice

David Moyes is remaining convinced he is the right man to lead Manchester United forward, and insisted he still has the majority of fans’ support ahead of their home game against Aston Villa. However, a group of disgruntled United fans have put together an ÂŁ840 fund in order to pay for a banner saying ‘Wrong one – Moyes Out’ to fly over Old Trafford tomorrow during the build up to the game. The message mocks a banner on display at the Stretford End of Old Trafford claiming Moyes is ‘The Chosen One’ – a referance to the fact Sir Alex Ferguson personally hand-picked Moyes to succeed him as manager last year.

Moyes has hit back at the fans organizing this banner, clamining that if they think it will drive him to resignation, they are wrong, “All it has done is strengthened my resolve to get the job done right. I’m more driven to succeed now than ever.”

“I want to change the postition we are in right now, and I really believe we can do that.”

However, Moyes has conceded that United fans were ‘entitled’ to make such a banner after previous results, but the Scot insisted he is backed by most fans, the players and the board.

“People can do that, they’re entitled to that.”

Reports of a possible unrest came after United lost 3-0 at home to city rivals Manchester City, their 6th home defeat of the season.

When asked whether he had the full support of the players, he responded, “Definitely, I have no reason to suggest anything else.”

“Everybody’s hurting. The players are, and myself as you can tell. They’re really good professionals, they work incredibly hard at their job. The management staff are hard working as well, we’re working hard to make sure we have a winning team, but the players are working hard as well.”

Another defeat at Old Trafford would give United their worst home record since they were relegated from the top-flight in 1974. They are already guarenteed to finish the season with their worst points tally in their Premier League history.
