Premier League predictions for another packed weekend

The Premier League is well underway now and this weekend is Game-week 4 of the 2015/2016 campaign.

Yes it’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for lead-writer Alex Batt to take on another one of SillySeason‘s writers and this week, it’s Ben Reardon.

Eight games on Saturday and two on Sunday see yet another packed schedule for the Premier League, and without wasting any more time, lets get into the predictions!

PREMIER LEAGUE SATURDAY’S MATCH PREDICTIONS

Newcastle United vs Arsenal

Alex Says: Newcastle have had a solid start under Steve McClaren, and their draw at Old Trafford was an impressive result last weekend. As for Arsenal, they’ve once again started poorly, but I think they will JUST have enough to scrape a win here. Match Prediction: 1-2

Ben Says: I expect Arsenal to get back to winning ways at St James’ Park on Saturday. Newcastle haven’t had a great start to the season, so The Gunners, aided by Olivier Giroud, will come out on top. Match Prediction: 0-2

Aston Villa vs Sunderland

Alex Says: This could be a relegation scrap come the end of the season and it’s a tricky game to predict. However, the state Sunderland are in right now, I can only see a narrow home win. Match Prediction: 1-0

Ben Says: Two teams who could be in the relegation mix meet early on, I can’t see past a home win for VillaSunderland have been woeful on the road recently. Match Prediction: 3-1

AFC Bournemouth vs Leicester Ciy

Alex Says: The Cherries picked up their first win in the Premier League last weekend after a stunning Callum Wilson hat-trick, but they come up against an in-form Leicester who are yet to lose a game. Draw written all over it in my eyes. Match Prediction: 2-2

Ben Says: Leicester have been the surprise package so far this season, remaining unbeaten, I can see them continuing this run against a Bournemouth side who looked brilliant in their win at West Ham. Match Prediction: 2-2

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

Alex Says: First win of the season last weekend for the reigning champions and it will be followed up with yet another win this weekend against Crystal Palace. Comfortable as well for the home side. Match Prediction: 3-1

Ben Says: We witnessed Chelsea‘s return to form away at West Brom last weekend, I can’t see anything but a win for the Premier League Champions, despite the threat Palace will hold. Match Prediction: 2-0

Liverpool vs West Ham United

Alex Says: Liverpool have had a great start to the campaign. They’ve not looked great, but they’ve got the points on the board. As for West Ham, it started so well and then just faded away with losses to Leicester and Bournemouth. Feel another loss for Slaven Bilic this weekend too. Match Prediction: 2-0

Ben Says: Liverpool have got back on track in recent weeks, so they will have no problems defeating an out of sorts West Ham side at home, even though they have struggled for goals. Match Prediction: 2-1

Manchester City vs Watford

Alex Says: Can’t see anything but a home win here. Brilliant start from Manchester City and I full expect them to teach Watford a Premier League lesson. The Hornets have started okay with three draws, but this will be their first taste of defeat in the top-flight. Match Prediction: 3-0

Ben Says: Watford have started well in their first season back in the top flight, but they will be brought back down to earth against a City side who have looked superb so far. Match Prediction: 4-1

Stoke City vs West Bromwich Albion

Alex Says: Both teams have had rather miserable starts. Two points for Stoke City and just the one for West Brom, but I think home advantage will give Mark Hughes his first win of the season. Match Prediction: 2-1

Ben Says: The Tony Pulis derby rolls into the Potteries. His former side will be the ones smiling, having looked firm in the games they’ve played, against a leaky Albion. Match Prediction: 3-1

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton

Alex Says: These games are always entertaining. Spurs have looked poor so far this season, whilst Everton have looked average. Safe bet would be to sit on the fence and say draw, so that’s what I am going to do. Match Prediction: 2-2

Ben Says: Tottenham haven’t had a great start to the season, so I think that Romelu Lukaku will prove the difference for The Toffees, and predict a win away from home. Match Prediction: 1-2

PREMIER LEAGUE SUNDAY’S MATCH PREDICTIONS

Southampton vs Norwich City

Alex Says: Although Norwich have picked up four points from their first three games, I can’t see them having enough to get something from Southampton, who have had a poor start, picking up just two points. However, this will be their first win of the season. Match Prediction: 3-1

Ben Says: Norwich have been well equipped upon their promotion back to the Premier League. They can get something at a Southampton side who have somewhat gone off the boil. The Canaries will by flying high. Match Prediction: 0-1

Swansea City vs Manchester United

Alex Says: Another really hard game to predict. Swansea City have started very well. Picking up five points from their first three games, whilst United have picked up seven whilst playing averagely. I think a draw would suit both teams and I think that’s what it’ll be. Match Prediction: 1-1

Ben Says: Both of these two teams remain unbeaten to date in the Premier League, following impressive starts. I’ll go for a 1-1 draw in South Wales. Match Prediction: 1-1

So there are the writer’s picks and predictions for this weekend’s matches.
