Chinese league wants Manchester United striker to become the face of football

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is wanted in China in order to become the face of their Chinese Super League.

According to reports, the 30-year-old has been approached by un-named Chinese officials despite him still being contracted at United until 2018.

However, the Chinese Super League has just had a massive financial boost with new TV deals being worth £830million, and they want a mega-star to become the face of football out there as they begin a new era.

The Chinese government are desperate to boost the image of the game and have done so by trying to lure former-Premier League players to the country.

Ex-Premier League Players

The likes of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba played briefly in the country, but now they’ve got Tim Cahill and Demba Ba featuring after their stints in England.

As well as players, they are trying to attract the best managers and at the minute, they have Sven-Goran Erikkson and Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Rooney is the one player they want to lure over however to become the new face of Chinese football, and they are ready to offer him a hefty pay-package in order to do so.
