10. Raphael Varane

Starting the list off at number ten is the French central defender Raphael Varane . The current Real Madrid defender has made about 65 appearances for the club since joining in 2011. The 22 year old has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid with high caliber clubs showing major interest like Manchester United among many others. The club has though refused to let the 22 year old depart from the club.

Raphael Varane has been under-rated like many others on this list. The defender has really been denied the opportunity to establish a first team place despite him being a quality player.

9. Keylor Navas

In ninth place on our top Ten Most Underrated Real Madrid Players in Keylor Navas. The goalkeeper deserves more praise than what he’s getting lately. Added to that the near constant links with Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Manchester United’s David De Gea and you start feeling for Navas. He is actually a decent goalkeeper and one I feel is underrated. He never fails to impress when he is called into action for Real Madrid .

8. Dani Carvajal

Dani Carvajal takes up eighth place on the 10 Most Underrated Real Madrid Players. Carvajal is probably the best right-back in the world right now, yet you don’t hear as much praise for him as you do for left-back Marcelo. The Spaniard was part of the team that won the Champions League in 2014 since joining in 2013 from Bayer Leverkusen. He’s made 191 appearances for Real Madrid and is cemented as one of their greatest full-backs ever- perhaps the pundits and fans need to see that and give him more praise.

7. Lucas Vazquez

In seventh is Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, another player who has been shadowed by the big names at the club, a player who has been a long time youth product and upcoming star.

Vazquez is a youth product formed at Real Madrid and has only gone to one other club which was on loan to Espanyol.

He has since been in and out of the first team picture since 2015 but he is a very good winger and player and should be rated more by Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old Brazilian makes the list in fifth spot. He is one of the newbies at the club who broke into the team in 2013 and is now a firm starter at Real Madrid. He has proved that he is a force to be reckoned with and was also a player who contributed to Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph in 2014. The youngster has so far proved to be one of the next big things in soccer. Casemiro is however somewhat underrated as it’s always Cristiano Ronaldo who gets all the accolades while Casemiro goes unnoticed doing all the dirty work- like tackling and winning possession.

4. Michael Owen

Well many might not remember his time at Real Madrid as it didn’t last as long as he wanted but in his 1 year at the club Michael Owen scored an impressive 13 goals in 36 appearances at the club. Well if that’s not impressive then we don’t know what impressive is!. The 38-year-old is currently retired from Professional football. In addition he was the youngest player to score for England at the time in 1998.

3. Fabio Coentrao

In third is 30-year-old Portuguese defender Fabio Coentrao who is currently on loan at Sporting CP from Real Madrid. The Portuguese joined Real Madrid for €30 million from Benfica back in 2011 and has since been mostly either sat on the bench or on loan at different clubs as he has been overshadowed by the big names at the club which has kept him out of the team at the moment.

Following his £30 million move from White Hart Lane to Santiago Bernabeu. The Croatian midfielder has been one of the key players at the club and has definitely played a big role in Real Madrid’s success at the club since joining them in 2012 and has since scored a number of important goals for the Los Blancos. During the 2013/14 season he was awarded the best midfielder in La liga award as he played a big role in Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey and Champions League triumph. In first place on the list is Argentine winger Angel Di Maria, the winger is currently playing for Paris Saint Germain in the French Ligue 1 following his move from Manchester United. He was one of the best players at Real Madrid during his time at the club but was not just noticed enough at club, after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil Angel Di Maria was sold to Manchester United for the British record fee of £59.7 million following the arrival of James Rodriguez at the club but was later sold to Paris Saint Germain after a year as he failed to cope with the physical Premier League.
