Newly promoted Cherries keen to bolster attacking options

AFC Bournemouth have reportedly enquired about the services of Blackburn Rovers forward Jordan Rhodes, according to Shoot Magazine.

The 25-year-old Scotland international netted 21 goals for Rovers in the 2014/15 campaign, amid rumours linking him with a move to a Premier League side.

Rhodes signed for the Ewood Park outfit for £8m from Huddersfield Town in the August of 2012, and is once again in-demand from top-flight suitors this summer – following another fruitful campaign in the Blue and White halves of Blackburn.

Jordan Rhodes: A wanted man

Bournemouth are the latest side to confirm an interest in the Halifax-born talisman, with manager Eddie Howe keen to add further depth to his attacking options, as the Cherries prepare for their inaugural season in the Premier League, having achieved promotion as title-winners of the second-tier.

Howe views Blackburn’s prolific number eleven as a suitable option to play alongside Callum Wilson, as he looks to build a squad capable of remaining in the Premier League.

Should Rhodes make the move down to the south coast, then he would become the second player to move from Blackbuen to Bournemouth this summer – following in the footsteps of Norwegian international Joshua King.

As well as the perceived interest from Dean Court – Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough are both contemplating bidding for Rhodes, who is valued at around £10m by his current employers.

Blackburn’s Championship rivals, Sheffield Wednesday, have also been linked with an ambitious £8m move for the player.

Rhodes suffered an injury whilst featuring in a pre-season friendly for Rovers last weekend, however scans on his ankle have revealed that the injury is not as serious as first feared.
