Arsene Wenger confirms knee injury

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered a ‘quite serious’ knee injury, which could rule him out for up to seven weeks.

The England international picked up a knee injury during Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat to FC Barcelona in the Champions League, and it was feared that he’d damaged ligaments in his ankle and knee.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal‘s weekend trip to Manchester United, Wenger was asked about Chamberlain‘s injury, and the Frenchman confirmed it’s quite serious.

‘Quite Serious’

“We lost Oxlade-Chamberlain and it is quite serious. It will keep him out for a few weeks,” said Wenger.

He then added that it could be “two or three weeks” or perhaps “six or seven” depending on the verdict of a specialist. If it’s the latter, it would mean he’d struggle to be fit in time for the European Championships.
