Chilean wanted more trophies

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has admitted that he was left disappointed with his debut season with The Gunners, as he eyed more silverware.

Arsene Wenger‘s side were successful yet again in the FA Cup, retaining their trophy after an emphatic 4-0 win over Aston Villa at Wembley, but that isn’t enough for their latest signing.

European and League Shortcomings

Alexis, who joined Arsenal from FC Barcelona last Summer for £32million, has admitted that he was hoping the club could win the Premier League or the Champions League.

However, they were eliminated in the last-16 from Europe and finished third in the league, behind Manchester City and Chelsea.

Speaking in an interview, Alexis commented on his debut season in England and he admitted that it was a bittersweet campaign.

‘OK, but bittersweet’

“I would have liked to be in the Champions League final or to have won the Premier League title,” he said.

“We have a bunch of skilful players so to not achieve more is disappointing.

“It was an OK season, but it was bittersweet.”

Evolving Alexis

Speaking on his own game, Alexis admitted that his style of play is evolving and his role at a club is changing.

He added: “I had a breakthrough in my football life. Now I switch to the left, I make goals, I pass, I am evolving.

“And if I am put in at centre forward, I will do it in the best way possible.”

The Chilean will now be focusing on his country as they prepare to host the Copa America.
