Anfield Epic- but Sterling on Madrid radar

Liverpool fans had to endure a marathon penalty shootout last night before their side edged past Middleborough in the Capital One Cup.

17-year-old debutant Jordan Rossiter scored within 10 minutes of his fist game in Liverpool colours, but the night didn’t turn out as simple as first thought, as Adam Reach scored in the 2nd half to take the game to extra-time.

The game looked all done and dusted when Suso scored with 10 minutes to go in ET, but a Middlesborough penalty at the death sent the tie to a shootout.

Liverpool’s best player of the night, despite missing his penalty in the shootout, was arguably young starlet Raheem Sterling, who has been on fire with performances recently, so much so he has attracted interest from European champions Real Madrid.

Madrid have been well known to get the players they want over the years, just look at the likes on Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.

Liverpool lost their star man of last season Luis Suarez to Madrid’s rivals Barcelona last summer, and now it looks as if Sterling could be on his way to the Bernabeu, as Madrid put his top of their transfer wishlist.
