Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda will be handed a chance to impress in the first team if his manager thinks he deserves it.
Musonda returned from a loan spell with Real Betis in January and has struggled to break into the first team since.
Conte said: “He is not in the squad for tomorrow.
“He’s working very hard and working very well in the training session but also needs supplementary work with the physical coach.
“He’s working very well, he’ll play with the U23s tomorrow because they have a good game against Manchester City.
“For now, it’s better for him to play another game and then in the next games, if he deserves to come with us I’m open to this eventuality yes.”
Chelsea’s loan system is often hit with criticism, but it seems with Antonio Conte at the helm, the club are showing much more interest in developing some of their younger talents, and prepping them for the big stage.
Chelsea have numerous young players that many consider future stars, and Conte will want to do his best to keep hold of them, and this will require being able to offer them chances to show their capabilities.
With Dominic Solanke rumored to be on his way out to Liverpool over disputes concerning pay and gametime, Conte will want to avoid losing other young players like Musonda, and may give Musonda and the like more time to prove themselves on the field as a result.
