Blues boss keen to have midfielder at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has asked Roman Abramovic to sign Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes this summer.

Former Italy boss Conte is said to have asked Abramovich for the funds to sign the 22-year-old, who is valued at around ÂŁ41million.

However, the report says Gomes favours a move to Real Madrid over a host of top European clubs, including Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and the Blues.

Marca claim negotiations are well underway between Real and Valencia and they have settled on a deal of ÂŁ41m plus a further ÂŁ8m in add-ons.

It is said there are still a few obstacles to overcome before the transfer is completed, but Marca expect Gomes to become Real’s first summer signing besides the return of Alvaro Morata from Juve.

Gomes made 41 appearances for Valencia last term and was an integral member of Fernando Santos’ Portugal team that won Euro 2016.
