Spain right back Alvaro Arbeloa wants to continue to fight for his place in Real Madrid’s team, despite speculation over a proposed move to either Chelsea or Arsenal.
He was linked to a move back to the Premier League, having lost his regular spot in the Madrid starting XI to Dani Carvajal.
Arbeloa enjoyed a happy spell in England, spending four seasons at Liverpool under fellow countryman Rafa Benitez.
Arbeloa has publicly said that he has no intention of moving away from the Bernabeu. “I want to be a part of this club for as long as I can. This is home for me,” he said in an interview to RealMadrid TV.
“This is the club of my heart and hopefully I [can] have many years ahead here. I have two left as it stands, but it would be an honour to see out my career with Real Madrid.”
He has two years left on his current contract but Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger are eager to snap him up before his contract runs out.
