Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a boost in their hunt for Sami Khedira, as Real Madrid have told the midfielder to leave the club this Summer.

The German international only has one year left on his current contract, and with the two parties miles away in wage-demands, the Spanish side are desperate to sell him this year, rather than lose him for free next year.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea have shown interest in the midfielder, but neither of them have agreed to meet his demands, which are reportedly around ÂŁ250k-a-week.

According to reports, Jose Mourinho has told Khedira to stay put at the Bernabeu this Summer, and move to Stamford Bridge next season on a free, but Madrid are keen to force him out soon so that they can get a transfer fee for him.
