Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea have been warned off making a bid for Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic, after the club’s Sporting Director admitted that no bids would be accepted.

The future of the Croat has been hitting the headlines recently due to the club signing Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, and it was believed Mandzukic’s first-team spot would be in jeopardy due to the big-signing.

However, Matthias Sammer has rubbished reports that they would sell the powerful striker, and has insisted that he is still important for the club going forward.

‘Nobody even has to bother making an approach for Mandzukic,’ Sammer told Sky90.

‘He is incredibly important to Bayern. I always affectionately say that he plays like an animal.

‘It is simply amazing how much work he does for the team and how much running he does during a game.

‘They always try to provoke him because he really hurts his opponents with his work-rate.’
