Frenchman confident he can lead the line

Arsenal star Olivier Giroud has told Arsene Wenger he doesn’t need to sign a striker this summer because he is confident he can lead the line.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with making a formal move for Real Madrid star and Giroud‘s national team-mate Karim Benzema, but the current Arsenal star doesn’t feel the club need him.

Giroud, who missed three months of the season last year thanks to a broken leg, still managed to net an impressive 19 goals last season, but questions have still been asked about whether he’s good enough to win the Premier League for the North London side.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry doesn’t think the club can win the title with Giroud as their main striker, and the majority of fans feel the same as their record goalscorer.

However, Giroud himself has full confidence in his ability and doesn’t believe the club need to sign a new striker.

Giroud Backs Himself

‘I showed great mental strength last year and I had good stats,’ said Giroud.

‘I always try to improve myself and I feel with the team, so yes, I am sure I can bring something more to the team and to my team-mates.

‘When you want to win the league it is always a mix of skill and mental quality, technique and tactical.

‘You cannot win the league without mental strength, so obviously we need that and I think we have got it in our squad, the team is fantastic.’

If Arsenal don’t sign a striker, it will leave them with just Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott as options.
