Arsenal duo reject new deals

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been dealt a huge blow regarding contract extensions as both Bacary Sagna and Lukasz Fabianski have rejected new deals at the club.

The French defender and Polish goalkeeper are both out of contracts in the Summer and Arsenal have been holding talks with the duo since late last season, but as of yet, they haven’t been able to make breakthroughs with either party.

Sagna is reportedly asking for a two-year deal, but Wenger is only willing to offer him a 12-month extension, and as for Fabianski, he is growing tired of being back-up to Wojciech Szczesny.

If the duo leave, this will mean Wenger will only have Szczesny as a first-team goalkeeper and Carl Jenkinson as the only right-back on the books.

Fabianski has said: “I want to be No.1 in the club and in the Polish national team. I have learned a lot at London during very positive and challenging periods.

“With biggest respect to this great club, I didn’t accept the extension offer as I am looking forward to a new challenge in England or abroad.”

Regarding the right-back, Sagna feels let down that Wenger took this long to start offering him contract extensions, and he believes due to his loyalty to the club, a two-year deal should be offered with a small pay-rise from his current ÂŁ60,000-a-week deal.
