The 21-year-old is rated as one of the best youngsters and Arsene Wenger wants to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

According to reports in Brazil, Gunners officials have held initial talks with Gremio’s hierachy and now plan to send chief negotiator Dick Law to Brazil for further negotiations.

Bressan, who began his career at Juventude before joining Gremio in 2013, has since proved to be a hit with a string of impressive performances.

He was linked with a switch to Santos recently, but a move to Europe is now on the cards, with Arsenal leading the race.

Wenger is after competition for Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen, and the centre back is keen as an ideal option.

If Arsenal can agree a deal, they will try and win a work permit so he could go straight into the first-team squad next term.
