Arsenal hopeful of clinching Alvaro Morata deal

Arsenal are hopeful of finally signing Alvaro Morata at the end of the season after the Real Madrid striker reportedly agreed terms on a move to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners were close to signing Morata on loan in January with the player keen on more game time.

The deal didn’t end up happening, despite Arsenal’s offer of a ÂŁ2m loan fee, but reports are now claiming a permanent deal switch is on the cards this summer. According to AS, Morata has agreed terms on a five-year contract with Arsenal that would see him scoop ÂŁ100,000 a week. It now seems Morata is ready to leave his boyhood club.

Arsene Wenger is said to be delighted with the news, but the club are yet to agree on a fee with the Spanish side – something that could still scupper this transfer from happening. Real have previously ruled out selling Morata, who is seen as a future star for both his club and country, and it is believed they would want a fee in excess of ÂŁ15m to let him leave.

And Arsenal may be willing to pay that sum as the Gunners have made signing a striker their top priority in the summer, with the club currently short on forward options.
